3D Lab (Drug Discovery and Development Lab) is a pioneering research group at the University of Chittagong, dedicated to transforming Bangladesh’s presence in global drug innovation. Founded by a researcher trained at King’s College London, the lab bridges the gap between world-class research and the resource-constrained academic environment of public universities.

We work at the intersection of medicinal chemistry, molecular epidemiology, and genomic science to uncover novel therapeutic targets and support the development of new drugs. Our goal is to enable home-grown innovation in a country where over 300 pharmaceutical companies manufacture medicines, but none have yet discovered a drug of their own.

In our lab, we support medicinal chemists by conducting mechanistic drug studies, such as MIC testingmode-of-action analysis, and genotype-informed responses, to help push promising compounds closer to clinical application. We also study the genetic basis and population dynamics of systemic diseases like obesity and diabetes, seeking to uncover druggable genomic targets relevant to local and regional populations.

More than a research lab, 3D Lab is a training ground for under-resourced but highly talented students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend university. We provide access to research tools, international skills, and scientific mentorship, empowering students to rise beyond boundaries and contribute meaningfully to science, society, and country.

We are not just discovering drugs—we are Innovating Cure.
