noman-1024x1020 Md. Jahidul Islam Noman

Md. Jahidul Islam Noman is an MSc student in the Drug Discovery and Development Lab at University of Chittagong. His project focuses on the association of genetic polymorphisms as well as sociodemographic factors with obesity and lipid profiles in adults. Prominent FTO gene variant linked to increased adiposity via disrupted regulation of IRX3/IRX5, and the LIPC gene variants affecting HDL cholesterol through altered lipid metabolism. The insights coming out of his project could aid in developing targeted prevention strategies and advancing personalized medicine through genetic risk profiling.

He completed his HSC from Dhaka College, followed by a BSc in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at University of Chittagong, and now he is pursuing his MSc program. His research integrates   genetics, molecular biology, and metabolic studies to explore the mechanisms of obesity and its impact on lipid metabolism.

Beyond his academic pursuits he enjoys playing billiards and football, making arts and animations, studying evolution and psychology, and watching films.
