Muhammed Jamil Zulqiful is a second-year Master’s student in the Drug Discovery and Development Lab at the University of Chittagong. His thesis focuses on multidrug resistance and biofilm formation in Klebsiella pneumoniae, alongside investigating the epidemiological scenario of multidrug resistance in relatively isolated regions of Rangamati, Bangladesh. The study combines epidemiological, microbiological, and molecular approaches to identify potential biomarkers for identification of hypervirulent, biofilm-forming, multidrug-resistant bacteria, as well as recognizing potential epidemiological risk factors for the Rangamati population.
Zulqiful earned his bachelor’s degree in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. He is passionate about understanding host-pathogen dynamics in various bacteria and viruses and looks forward to contributing to research on microbial systems. He has completed multiple trainings at clinical centers and research institutes, including basic microbiology techniques, BSL-3 safety protocols, and cell culture practices.
